Oral Surgeon Michael Stern, DMD, PhD
Dr. Stern began his training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he received a Doctor of Dental Medicine. Upon completion of his five years of dental studies at Harvard, he entered an intensive eight-year program in oral and maxillofacial surgery and a Ph.D. in Oral Biology. During this hospital based surgical residency training he spent significant time rotating through related medical and surgical fields such as internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology and emergency medicine. His Ph.D. thesis was on the biology of wound healing, with particular emphasis on the unique features of oral wound healing.
On completion of this program he accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of California. During his three years on the faculty, maintained an active clinical practice and studied the biology of wound healing and oral cancer.
Dr. Stern's love of the mountains, great outdoors and desire to live in a small, close community led him to Jackson.
